How do you honor an individual’s lifelong passion while keeping a monument tasteful looking? That was the task set before Adam as he designed this piece for the Herz family. Basketball was more than a hobby or an interest for Tony, it was his passion. He was an avid fan and coached most of his life. Adam’s challenge was capturing this love in a unique way. Looking at a basketball, he found his inspiration; the shape of the monument mimics the familiar lines on a basketball. He showed the family by using an overlay of the basketball to help them see what he had seen and they fell in love with it. To honor their beloved Buckeyes, Adam also added a classic design element of a band carving. The carving is of buckeyes and buckeye leaves. This design achieved Tony’s and Stephanie’s goal of having a clean, minimalistic design, yet narrating their individual stories.
